Proposed Changes to Estate Planning and Gift Tax Need Your Attention

May 13, 2021 at 12:00 pm - 12:30 pm

Complimentary

Proposed legislation to significantly reform federal estate and gift tax law was recently introduced in the Senate. This program will review the impact it would have if enacted, why you may need to review and revise your current estate plan, and why you may want to make significant gifts while you still can.

What you need to know about proposed changes to estate and gift tax law:

  • The estate tax exemption would be reduced to $3.5 million (currently, $11.7 million)
  • The gift tax exemption would be limited to $1 million.
  • The estate, gift, and generation skipping tax rate would range from 45% up to 65% (currently, the top rate is 40%).
  • Valuation discounts and GRATs would effectively be eliminated.

Estate Planning Speakers:

  • Brad Cook
  • Michael Panebianco
  • Madeline Hutchings
