COO / Director of Administration:

Sheehan Phinney seeks a Director of Administration (DOA). A DOA is a typical position title for a law firm and is equivalent to a COO in non-legal entities.

The DOA is responsible for overseeing all firm administration in all offices and accountable for results. This will be done through outstanding communication and by independently leading the heads of the following departments to achieve jointly set goals:

  • Human Resources
  • Accounting/Finance
  • Facilities Management
  • Information Technology
  • Business Development
  • Library/Research, and
  • General Operations

Experience in all areas preferred.

The position reports to the Managing Director and will work in partnership with the Management Committee. Minimum ten years of proven executive experience required. Strong local ties required.

This Executive level position requires frequent personal interaction, with diplomacy and harmonious collaboration valued. This position also requires versatility and effective problem solving skills. Litigation Legal Secretary:

Sheehan Phinney seeks an experienced Legal Secretary to join our team in our growing Boston office. This position supports three busy attorneys, with both litigation and business counseling practices. The ideal candidate will possess strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to interact with clients and third parties on a professional level; the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment, strong attention to detail, and a high level of organizational skills are also a must.

Duties include preparing/revising documents, correspondence, pleadings, and forms; scheduling and coordinating appointments, meetings and depositions; court and agency filings including e-filing; processing mail; transcribing dictation; and general administrative duties, including filing and file maintenance.

Requirements include five or more years as a Legal Secretary, including substantial litigation experience, excellent technical skills including proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook; knowledge of state and Federal court filing requirements, including experience with e-filing. Our ideal candidate has experience supporting a busy legal practice.
