Harvell Named NH Chair For Supreme Court Historical Society

(February 4, 2016, Manchester, NH) – Sheehan Phinney shareholder Michael C. Harvell has been named the New Hampshire Chair for the Supreme Court Historical Society.

The Supreme Court Historical Society, a private non-profit organization, is dedicated to the collection and preservation of the history of the Supreme Court of the United States. The Society accomplishes its mission by conducting educational programs, programs of interest to legal practitioners, scholars and historians and the general public, supporting historical research, publishing books, journals, and electronic materials, and by collecting antiques and artifacts related to the Court’s history.

Harvell has built a substantial litigation practice since joining Sheehan Phinney in 1975. His work includes extensive trial experience, with special emphasis on stockholder and partnership disputes. His practice focus also concentrates on state tax litigation and intellectual property.

Harvell is admitted to practice in New Hampshire and before the United States Supreme Court and is a member of the New Hampshire Bar Association. He is also a Fellow for the American College of Trial Lawyers. Harvell has been repeatedly recognized by Best Lawyers in America®, Chambers USA and New England Super Lawyers, all in the area of Business Litigation. He received his B.A., from Yale University and his J.D., cum laude, from Boston University.

Harvell has committed his time to a number of community organizations throughout the state. He served as the Capital Campaign Chairman for the New Hampshire Preservation Alliance, Trustee and past Chairman of the Board for the Portsmouth Music Hall, and a member of the Portsmouth Antheneum. He has served on the National Trust for Historic Preservation’s Board of Advisors and is the New Hampshire Advisor Emeritus. Mike also is a former Director of the Greater Portsmouth Chamber of Commerce and former Trustee of the Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests and a National Council Member for the Strawberry Banke Museum. In addition, his service as a Director and Chairman of the Board of Child and Family Services of New Hampshire spanned nearly a decade.
