Jim is Sheehan Phinney’s practice group leader for the Bankruptcy, Restructuring and Creditor’s Rights Group. His practice finds him in bankruptcy court representing secured lenders, creditor committees, purchasers of distressed assets, trustees, unsecured creditors and small and larger business debtors in their liquidation or reorganization efforts.
Jim has negotiated and litigated DIP financing transactions, chapter 11 plans, asset valuations, cash collateral issues, lease issues, stay relief issues, and asset purchases. Jim also represents clients in preference actions, dischargeability complaints and violation of stay cases.
Outside of the bankruptcy court, Jim represents both creditors and debtors in commercial foreclosure proceedings, secured party sales, workouts and commercial collection/contract actions.
