Bartram Named Co-Chair of Estate Planning Group
Sheehan Phinney is proud to announce that shareholder Mark Bartram has been named Co-Chair of the firm’s Trusts and Estate Planning Group. In this leadership role, Bartram will help guide the continued growth and strategic direction of the practice group. His focus will include sophisticated estate planning, fiduciary governance, probate and estate administration, wealth preservation, charitable planning, and regulatory compliance. He will continue advising individuals, families, trustees, and family offices on complex trust and estate matters.
Bartram brings to the position a unique combination of private client legal experience and executive fiduciary leadership. Throughout his career, he has advised high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth individuals and families on complex estate, trust, tax, and governance matters, while also serving in senior legal and leadership positions with independent trust companies. Bartram’s experience overseeing fiduciary operations, governance frameworks, risk management, and trust administration provides a practical and operational perspective that will further strengthen the firm’s Trusts and Estate Planning Group.
Bartram focuses his practice on trusts and estates, including estate planning, trust and fiduciary administration, probate matters, fiduciary governance, trust acceptance and termination, asset protection, and charitable and legacy planning strategies. He works closely with professional trustees, fiduciaries, individuals, and families to develop tailored solutions that preserve wealth, minimize taxes, protect assets, and align long-term planning objectives with evolving client needs.
Bartram began his legal career practicing as a Trusts and Estates attorney at law firms in South Carolina and Washington, D.C., where he developed substantial experience counseling private clients on estate planning and fiduciary matters before transitioning into senior fiduciary leadership roles within the trust industry. He received his J.D. from Vermont Law School and his B.A. from the University of Vermont. Bartram is admitted to practice in New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Maryland, South Carolina, and the District of Columbia. Before beginning his legal career, he served in the United States Coast Guard and later worked for U.S. Senator James M. Jeffords of Vermont.
