His interest in computers started early after a grade school field trip to a science museum, and it stuck. Tom served eight years in the U.S. Navy as an Electronics Technician aboard nuclear-powered submarines, working as a specialist in electronic warfare systems, as well as computer networks, communications, and navigation systems. The work was technical, structured, and unforgiving of mistakes, which shaped how he approaches risk and reliability. While in the Navy, Tom worked toward a B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Texas at Austin.
After getting out, he moved into civilian technology roles, starting in technical support and later expanding into engineering and training at Cardinal Tracking in Texas before moving to New Hampshire and joining Paradigm Computer Consulting. After five years, he moved into banking technology as the Operations Officer for Centrix Bank & Trust’s IT department, where he spent six years building out IT operations, security, and infrastructure in a regulated financial services environment. Tom eventually returned to Paradigm as a Service Manager and grew into the role of Chief Operating Officer, overseeing operations as the company expanded from one office in New Hampshire to five offices across five states. He stayed on through the company’s sale in 2017 to help transition staff and clients to the new company.
Tom holds the ISC2 Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification. He values practical security, clear communication, and solutions that fit real organizations.
When Tom is not working, he spends time reading science fiction, listening to audiobooks and podcasts, walking the dog, and playing board & card games with family.
