Paul is a member of the firm’s Labor & Employment Practice Group. He advises employers on a wide range of issues, including terminations, wage & hour rules, benefits, discrimination, harassment, drug testing, and family & medical leave. He also reviews and drafts employment contracts, employee handbooks, and other personnel policies for clients.
Paul’s primary focus is on helping employers avoid claims altogether, but he regularly assists with compliance audits, government investigations, EEOC charges, and other pre-litigation claims. He also counsels employers on union issues, including grievances and collective bargaining negotiations.
Before joining Sheehan Phinney, Paul worked as in-house counsel for a large company based in New York. His experience advising executives, implementing policies, and handling claims from the inside allows him to more effectively represent clients from the outside.
While working in-house, Paul also regularly conducted training sessions on how to comply with the law, deal with discrimination and harassment claims, and review and negotiate contracts.
