Practice Focus
Karyl works primarily in the fields of business and employment litigation. She frequently represents employers and employees in matters involving the enforcement of non-competition and confidentiality agreements and allegations of trade secret misappropriation. Karyl has extensive experience with matters involving electronic discovery, data preservation and retrieval. Karyl has also appeared before local land use boards in zoning and planning matters and she has litigated cases involving the deployment of personal wireless service facilities under the Telecommunications Act of 1996.
Before joining Sheehan Phinney, Karyl was a law clerk for Associate Justice James E. Duggan of the New Hampshire Supreme Court and Judge Paul J. Barbadoro of the United States District Court for the District of New Hampshire.
- Karyl and shareholder Chris Cole obtained summary judgment in the Massachusetts Federal District Court in favor of their client, in an action in which the client's former General Counsel sued alleging that the company had failed to pay over $1,500,000 in severance benefits. Bukuras v. Mueller Group, LLC, 2008 WL 3978210 (D. Ma. 2008). The judgment was affirmed on appeal by the First Circuit Court of Appeals. Bukuras v. Mueller Group, LLC, 592 F.3d 255 (1st Cir. 2010).

Honors
Karyl has been selected as a Rising Star by New England Super Lawyers in the area of Business Litigation for the past three years. She was the first-ever recipient of the Sheehan Phinney Kimon S. Zachos Pro Bono Achievement Award, given to an attorney who makes a significant contribution to the firm's pro bono endeavors. While in law school, Karyl was an Articles Editor for the Boston College Law Review.
Memberships and Admissions
Karyl is a member of the New Hampshire Bar Association. She is admitted to practice in New Hampshire and the U.S. District Court for the District of New Hampshire. Karyl has served on the Board of Directors of the New Hampshire Women’s Bar Association since 2007 and currently serves as the Association’s Treasurer.
