Practice Focus

Liz joined the firm in 1996 and has practiced in the areas of employment law and employment litigation since 1992. She represents both public and private employers. Her practice includes counseling and training employers about ways to effectively avoid and/or defend against employment disputes or claims. She has extensive experience handling matters before the New Hampshire Department of Labor, the New Hampshire Commission for Human Rights and the New Hampshire Public Employee Labor Relations Board.

Liz also has wide-ranging litigation experience including jury trials in both New Hampshire and Massachusetts state and federal courts, bench trials, arbitrations and mediations. Her client base ranges from private corporations to municipalities and counties. She is often asked to participate in seminars and/or serve as a panelist at labor and employment related workshops.

Sample Matters
  • Successfully defended a public sector client at the state trial court and Supreme Court in an action seeking to enjoin a major project, resulting in a multi-million dollar construction project going forward.
  • Successfully argued a New Hampshire Supreme Court appeal concerning employer’s earned time policy.
  • Obtained summary judgment, and prevailed on appeal, in litigation involving public officials’ salaries.
  • Arbitrated series of employee disciplinary matters on behalf of employer and obtained favorable rulings.

Memberships and Admissions

Liz is admitted to practice in New Hampshire, in the First Circuit Court of Appeals and in the United States Supreme Court. She is a member of the New Hampshire Bar Association and of the Labor and Employment Practice Section of the New Hampshire Bar Association. She is also a member of the New Hampshire Women’s Bar Association and the Smith College Alumnae Association.

Community Involvement

Liz was a board member and past President of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Manchester for ten years, and a cabinet member for the Granite United Way Campaign. She serves as a mediator in the New Hampshire Superior Court System’s Rule 170 Alternative Dispute Resolution program and in the New Hampshire Commission for Human Rights' Mediation Program. Liz is a graduate of the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership program and a 2011 graduate of Leadership New Hampshire. She is a supporter of Bradford Newbury Sutton Youth Sports and of Kearsarge Regional High School sports.
