Since joining Sheehan Phinney Bass + Green more than 30 years ago, Alan has developed a strong client base in the area of ERISA, public and private pension plans. His reputation in the field has led to his regularly being asked to provide expert testimony to Federal and State professional organizations on a wide range of pension and corporate related topics. Alan currently is of counsel to the firm and legal counsel to public, private and tax-exempt pension funds for tax, ERISA, investment and fiduciary matters.

Alan has repeatedly been recognized in Chambers USA for his work in employee benefits & compensation and has been named a New England Super Lawyer. He has been named one of the Best Lawyers in America since 1983 and was named the 2012 Manchester Lawyer of the Year for Employee Benefits (ERISA) Law.

Alan has been actively involved in a number of professional organizations, including: the New Hampshire and Massachusetts Bar Associations, the New Hampshire Bar Foundation (Fellow), the American College of Employee Benefits Counsel (Fellow), the National Association of Public Pension Attorneys (Member and past president), the International Society of Certified Employee Benefit Specialists (Charter Member and past president), the Boston Security Analysts Society (Adjunct Member), The Center for Business Ethics at Bentley College, the National Association of Corporate Directors, the International Corporate Governance Network, the Council of Institutional Investors, and the Pension Rights Center.
