| (July 20, 2011, Boston, MA) - Sheehan Phinney Bass + Green shareholder Charles M. Waters has been named a Member of the Massachusetts Bar Association (MBA) Civil Litigation Section Council. Waters was appointed by MBA President, Richard P. Campbell, and will serve a one year term.
The MBA hosts sixteen sections, each focusing on a distinct area of practice, providing member attorneys with substantive information and support to enhance their practice and their profession. Each section is charged with analyzing and proposing legislation, developing educational and professional development programs, establishing and operating practice groups, producing articles for Section Review and/or Lawyers Journal and formulating and recommending policy and legislative positions to the House of Delegates.
Waters has a significant litigation practice, representing corporations, partnerships, trusts, estates and individuals in a variety of major civil cases involving business, real estate, land use, civil rights, probate, construction and employment disputes. Since 2005, Law and Politics Magazine has named Waters a New England Super Lawyer in the area of business litigation. He has won multiple million dollar trial awards, including one of the largest trial awards ($2.43 million) in Massachusetts in 2006. His trial successes have garnered attention by both local and national media. Waters serves as a panelist for the Massachusetts Bar Association pertaining to litigation and trial issues, and has published article on various litigation topics. Waters is admitted to practice in Massachusetts and the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts and is a member of the Boston and Massachusetts Bar Associations. He has also been admitted pro hac vice in Michigan, New Hampshire and New York.
