| (September 16, 2009, Manchester, NH) - Sheehan Phinney shareholder Rob Miller has been tapped by the New Hampshire Writer's Project to judge the 2009 New Hampshire Literary Awards. A four-time published author, Miller will join Chelsea Green Senior Editor Benjamin Watson and Shelf Awareness Contributing Editor Robert Gray in selecting the 2009 most outstanding work of nonfiction. All books nominated for the 2009 New Hampshire Literary Awards must meet minimum threshold requirements including year of publication. The author must also either be a New Hampshire native or resident, or the subject matter of the work must be inherently connected to New Hampshire. The awards will be presented at a ceremony at Southern New Hampshire University on November 14, 2009.
Past winners of the New Hampshire Literary Award in the category of nonfiction include Edith Milton's Holocaust memoir The Tiger in the Attic and Jim Collins' The Last Best League about his summer living among rising college-aged stars in the Cape Cod Baseball League. Previous winners of the New Hampshire Literary Awards in other categories include noted children's author Tomie dePaola and poets Maxine Kumin, Jane Kenyon and Donald Hall.
A graduate of Yale University and the University of Pennsylvania Law School where he served as Senior Editor of the Law Review, Miller is the author of the best-selling law school preparatory book Law School Confidential, and the cherished college preparatory book Campus Confidential, and is the co-author of the best-selling medical school preparatory book Med School Confidential, and the business school preparatory book Business School Confidential, which has been translated into multiple foreign languages. Miller is currently preparing a Third Edition of Law School Confidential, as well as a new non-fiction project for St. Martin's Press in New York. His first works of fiction, The Syndicate and The Covenant are expected in 2010 and 2011, respectively.
Miller litigates complex commercial disputes in the state and federal courts, and is the Chair of Sheehan Phinney's Land Use Litigation Group, having litigated dozens of zoning, planning, wetlands, conservation and development disputes before local land use boards, the New Hampshire state courts, the New Hampshire Supreme Court, and the United States District Court for the District of New Hampshire. Before joining Sheehan Phinney, Miller clerked for United States District Court Chief Judge Paul J. Barbadoro.
