Cowan, a director of the law firm of Sheehan Phinney Bass + Green, PA, has been appointed to serve on the Federal Court Advisory Committee to the United States District Court for the District of New Hampshire. The mission of the committee is to improve court operations and procedures and to serve as a liaison between federal practitioners and the court.
Since joining Sheehan Phinney in 1980, Mr. Cowan has built an active business litigation practice and has developed substantial experience with special emphasis representing design professionals, contractors and owners in construction disputes, and both employers and employees in trade secret, non-competition and confidentiality cases.
Cowan is admitted to practice in New Hampshire state and federal courts and before the First Circuit Court of Appeals. He is a member of the New Hampshire and American Bar Associations and of the ABA's Forum on the Construction Industry. He serves on the New Hampshire Bar Association's Committee on Cooperation with the Courts, as chair of the Sheehan Phinney Litigation Department and on the firm's Management Committee. He practices primarily from the firm's Manchester office.
