Perten of Sheehan Phinney Bass + Green recently gave a seminar about AIA form construction contracts entitled "Deconstructing the AIA A201 General Conditions of the Contract for Construction" at the national convention of the Construction Specifications Institute held in Baltimore, MD.
A significant portion of John's practice is devoted to servicing members of the construction industry for whom he has negotiated contracts, prosecuted and defended payment disputes, bid protests, change order claims and lien claims. John's construction expertise encompasses both the private and public sector. He has represented clients in state and federal courts, arbitration, and mediation proceedings. In addition, he is a frequent author and lecturer on issues relating to the construction industry.
John is an adjunct faculty member at Babson College in Wellesley, MA, where he teaches a course entitled "Business Law." He also served as Town Counsel for the Town of Maynard, MA and serves as Special Town Counsel for the Town of Wayland, MA. He is a former chairman of the Zoning Board of Appeals for the Town of Wayland.
