(June 27, 2007. Manchester, NH.) - Sheehan Phinney Attorney Edward Haffer recently obtained a defendant's verdict for Dartmouth College in federal court, defending the college against a claim of age discrimination.
The plaintiff, Patrick O'Leary, was employed by Dartmouth as an assistant football coach from 1989 through 2004. He claimed that the college's failure to rehire him in 2005 was based on his age, a claim which the college emphatically denied. Testifying for Dartmouth were Head Football Coach Buddy Teevens, Athletic Director Jo Ann Harper, and Senior Associate Athletic Director Brian Austin.
Attorney Haffer has litigated extensively in diverse areas, including: patents, trade secrets, trademarks, trade dress, copyrights, restrictive covenants, securities, contracts, employment law, environmental law, and energy law. He also counsels clients on a variety of intellectual property matters. Before entering private practice and joining Sheehan Phinney, Ed was a homicide prosecutor as a New Hampshire Assistant Attorney General. He is rated AV by Martindale-Hubbell, and is listed in "The Best Lawyers in America" for both Appellate Law and Commercial Litigation.
