(March 23, 2010, Manchester, NH) - Sheehan Phinney Bass + Green PA is pleased to announce changes to the firm's Management Committee and other management roles. Sheehan Phinney shareholder, Robert H. (Rob) Miller, has been elected to serve as the Member-at-Large on the firm's four-person Management Committee. David W. McGrath has been appointed Chair of the firm's Litigation Department and will continue to serve on the Management Committee.
Shareholder Christopher Cole has been appointed to serve as Chair of the firm's Hiring Committee and shareholder James F. Ogorchock was appointed to serve as Director of Associate Development. Cole will oversee the hiring of first and second year law students for Sheehan Phinney's highly competitive summer program and will work in conjunction with the Management Committee on lateral hiring of senior associates and partners in accordance with the firm's strategic plan. Ogorchock will oversee the firm's associate development program, ensuring (1) a steady flow of work between and among associates; (2) that associates are properly mentored; (3) that associates receive proper training in all aspects of their practices and opportunities commensurate with their levels of experience; and (4) that associates are developing and advancing appropriately to their place on the firm's partnership track.
Sheehan Phinney's Management Committee oversees the administrative and business functions and strategic planning initiatives for the firm's four regional offices and 60+ lawyers. In addition to Miller and McGrath, other members include Maria E. Recalde, Chair of the firm's Corporate Department, and Joseph A. DiBrigida, President and Managing Director who Chairs the Committee.
Rob Miller Chairs the firm's Land Use Litigation Group and maintains an active business litigation practice with a concentration on complex commercial disputes in the federal courts and appellate work before the New Hampshire Supreme Court. Miller was selected as a 2009 New England Super Lawyers "Rising Star" in the area of Business Litigation. He is a 2008 graduate of Leadership New Hampshire, and was previously named one of the Union Leader's "40 Under Forty" Leaders to watch. Miller is a well-known published author whose books, including Law School Confidential, Med School Confidential, Business School Confidential and Campus Confidential are best-sellers in their fields and have been translated into multiple languages. Miller is also actively involved in the community. In 2009, he served as a judge for the New Hampshire Literary Awards. He is the immediate past-President of the Yale Club of New Hampshire and continues to actively interview applicants to Yale as a member of the University's Alumni Schools Committee. He also serves on the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of YMCA Camp Belknap.
David McGrath succeeds Peter Cowan as Chair of the Firm's Litigation Department. He focuses his practice in commercial litigation and employment law. He represents clients in state and federal courts, arbitration and administrative proceedings. He routinely handles trade secret, non-competition, predatory hiring, fiduciary duty and discrimination cases. He has been named one of the Best Lawyers in America® by Woodward/White in the area of Labor & Employment and was selected in 2008 as a Super Lawyer by New England Super Lawyers, also in the area of Labor & Employment Law. Among his many community activities, McGrath serves as an honorary member of the Board of Directors of The Upper Room, a Southern New Hampshire family resource center.
Chris Cole, a member of the firm's Litigation Department, has successfully handled cases involving trade secrets related software and software applications, alleged misuse of company proprietary information and predatory employee hiring, trademark and trade dress infringement and numerous other business, employee and employment related disputes.
