| (October 27, 2011, Manchester, NH) - Sheehan Phinney Bass + Green PA shareholder Peter A. Nieves will be a guest lecturer on November 14, 2011 at the University of Tel Aviv speaking to members of the University Engineering Alumni Club and present University students on United States patent law and application.
Topics will include an understanding of the requirements for obtaining a patent in the United States and avoiding pitfalls to obtaining an enforceable patent in the United States. Nieves will also discuss the practical application of patent law, including patent enforcement, how to handle received cease and desist letters and how to determine patent infringement. Finally, the newly enacted America Invents Act will be discussed, including major changes to the United States patent law system.
Nieves often lectures on intellectual property at Universities and at other forums. He is also an adjunct professor of patent law at the University of New Hampshire School of Law (formerly, Franklin Pierce Law Center).
Nieves, the head of the firm's Patents Group, is an experienced patent attorney whose practice focuses on many aspects of intellectual property including: domestic and foreign preparation and prosecution of patents; domestic and foreign preparation and prosecution of trademarks; licensing; legal opinions concerning patents; trademarks; copyrights; and disputes concerning patents, trademarks, copyrights, and domain names.
