(Manchester, NH, May 17, 2011) - Sheehan Phinney Bass + Green PA Shareholder Peter A. Nieves was a guest speaker at the May 3, 2011 seminar titled "Open Innovation", hosted by Thompson Reuters. This half day seminar included best practices for increasing innovation and decreasing time-to-market through open innovation. The audience consisted of lawyers from Boston law firms, representatives of higher educational institutions and representatives of corporations.
Nieves focused primarily on legal issues of concern when implementing an open innovation strategy and how to be properly prepared to address such concerns. In addition, preemptive exercises were discussed to prevent such concerns from ever arising.
Nieves is a patent attorney, whose practice focuses on many aspects of intellectual property, including domestic and foreign preparation and prosecution of patents, domestic and foreign preparation and prosecution of trademarks, licensing, and disputes concerning patents, trademarks, copyrights and domain names. He is an adjunct professor at Franklin Pierce Law Center, now the UNH School of Law, and speaks regularly at Dartmouth College in the Tuck School of Business and the Thayer School of Engineering.
