(November 29, 2010, Manchester, NH) - Sheehan Phinney Bass + Green PA shareholder Peter A. Nieves was a guest lecturer for the event entitled, The Lawyer Is In on November 10, 2010. The Lawyer Is In is organized by Tuck's Entrepreneurship Club and the Dartmouth Entrepreneurial Network (DEN). The event is open to all Tuck, Thayer, Dartmouth, and Medical School students, faculty, staff, and alumni, and DEN friends, however registration is required.
At the event, Nieves discussed patent law statutory bars in the United States and major foreign country differences. Other topics discussed included the most practical ways of using patent protection and differences between utility patent applications and provisional patent applications.
Nieves is a patent attorney, whose practice focuses on many aspects of intellectual property, including domestic and foreign preparation and prosecution of patents, domestic and foreign preparation and prosecution of trademarks, licensing, and disputes concerning patents, trademarks, copyrights and domain names. He is an adjunct professor at Franklin Pierce Law Center, now the UNH School of Law, and speaks regularly at Dartmouth College in the Tuck School of Business and the Thayer School of Engineering.
