(May 17, 2006. Manchester, NH.) - NHLABORNET, the premier e-discussion group dedicated to human resources and employment law, celebrates its 10th anniversary this year. This momentous occasion will be honored with a reception from 4 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 25, 2006 at the C.R. Sparks Conference Center, 18 Kilton Road in Bedford (Immediately following the 18th Annual Employment Law Update).
In 1996, just as the Internet and e-mail were becoming popular, NHLABORNET began as a resource for human resource professionals and others needing advice from peers on a wide array of personnel, workplace and employment issues. Hosted and moderated by SPB+G, NHLABORNET started with just a few posts to the e-mail based discussion group, but grew quickly. By 1999, there were more than 200 members (known as "Netters") and more than 2,000 postings in the archives. The archives grew to 10,000 postings by 2003. The NHLABORNET membership is now approaching 450 HR and other professionals, including Netters beyond New Hampshire's border. The searchable archive now holds more than 25,000 messages, an average of 8.4 postings a day.
"In the past 10 years, NHLABORNET has served the human resources community well," says Jim Reidy, moderator of NHLABORNET and a shareholder at Sheehan Phinney Bass + Green. "Beyond just answering questions, sharing policies, promoting resources and events, posting jobs and reviewing proposed legislation and regulations, NHLABORNET has brought together some of the most committed HR professionals and executives in New Hampshire in a cooperative online forum. I believe this is a benefit to the state's business climate and has raised the already high standards of competency and professionalism."
The NHLABORNET 10th anniversary event is free and open to the public. For more information about the event and to RSVP, contact Mark Laliberte at 603.627.8174 or e-mail him at mlaliberte@sheehan.com.
