(June 4, 2004. Manchester, NH.) - Attorney Diana Wieland an attorney in the Labor, Employment and Employee Benefits Practice Group at Sheehan Phinney Bass + Green, PA, will be the featured presenter at a Breakfast Series sponsored by Elliot Hospital's Regional Partners in Occupational Health. The program, entitled Meeting the Employer's Obligation Under the ADA, will focus on common ADA issues in the workplace. A specific emphasis will be placed upon helping attendees devise a process they can use for every situation to determine if an employee is disabled, what accommodations may be necessary and how to engage in the interactive process in order to meet the legal obligations of the law. Those attending will benefit more from the presentation if they have a basic understanding of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
Attorney Wieland's practice focuses on employment and labor law. She joined Sheehan Phinney in 2002 and has represented management in employment and labor law matters for more than twenty years. Prior to law school, she worked for the National Labor Relations Board in St. Louis for four years as a field examiner. She has represented employers before the National Labor Relations Board, the EEOC, the U.S. Department of Labor, the OFCCP and numerous state agencies. She also has worked with employers during union-organizing campaigns, negotiated labor agreements, and represented employers in arbitration cases. A frequent speaker on employment and labor topics for companies and seminar groups throughout the country, Attorney Wieland has trained managers and supervisors in all areas of employment law and practice, including sexual harassment, ADA, FMLA, interviewing, hiring, evaluations, Title IX and COBRA.
The seminar takes place on Friday, June 18, at the Elliot Hospital Conference Center. Registration begins at 8 a.m., with the presentation and a question and answer period scheduled between 8:30 - 10:30 a.m. Those interested in attending should contact Kathy Pender, Elliot Hospital/RPOH, 275 Mammoth Rd., Manchester, NH 03109, or via e-mail at kpender@elliot-hs.org.
