(February 9, 2005. Boston, MA.) - Attorney Maria E. Recalde, a director of the regional law firm of Sheehan Phinney Bass + Green PA, has joined the Advisory Board of the Boston Chapter of the Association of Latino Professionals in Finance and Accounting (ALPFA). Established in 1972, ALPFA is the first national Hispanic professional association in the United States. Since then, the organization has sought to enhance opportunities for CPAs, accountants, finance and related professionals and students, while expanding Latino leadership in the global workforce.
A native of Managua, Nicaragua, Attorney Recalde focuses her legal practice on Internet and e-commerce law, as well as on intellectual property, unfair competition and complex business litigation. She also provides general corporate representation to emerging companies. In addition, her practice encompasses litigation involving non-competition agreements, theft of trade secrets, unfair and deceptive business practices, and trademark and copyright infringement in both state and federal courts. She also practices before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
Ms. Recalde is an active member of the Boston Bar Association. She is a former Trustee of the Boston Bar Foundation and a member of the Boston Bar Foundation Society of Fellows. She chaired the Boston Bar Journal's Board of Editors (2001-2004) and served as a member of the Council of the Boston Bar Association (1999-2002). She currently serves on the Boston Bar Association's Search Committee for a new Executive Director. Ms. Recalde also is a member of the Massachusetts Association of Hispanic Attorneys, and the Hispanic National Bar Association, where she formerly chaired its Internet/E-Commerce Committee.
She lectures and writes regularly on intellectual property, Internet, e-commerce, electronic communications and related topics.
