(July 12, 2010, Boston, MA) - Sheehan Phinney shareholder Janet B. Fierman has been elected to the Board of Governors of the Supreme Judicial Court Law Clerks' Society, for a 3 year term.
The Law Clerks' Society of the Supreme Judicial Court is comprised of those who have served, or who currently serve, as law clerks to the Justices of the Supreme Judicial Court. Current and former Justices of the Supreme Judicial Court are also honorary members of the Society. The purpose of the society is to maintain a vital connection between the Court and its law clerks, with the goal of honoring, sustaining, and nurturing the Court's legacy and living history.
Fierman's practice focuses on on provided a full range of services to privately owned businesses in New England and around the globe. Before joining the firm in 2008, she was one of the founding partners of the law firm Cohen & Fierman, LLP. Prior to her legal career, she was an International Trade Economist with the United States Department of Commerce. She also served as Law Clerk for Chief Justice Edward Hennessey of the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court. Fierman is a member and Chairman for the Town of Brookline Building Commission and is Secretary and member of the Board of Directors of The Boston Club. She has also served as a member of the Boston Bar Association's Diversity Committee, a member of the Boston Bar Journal Board of Editors, a member and Hearing Officer for the State Examiners Board for Plumbers & Gasfitters and the Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Runkle School Extended Day Program. She frequently has articles published and also serves as a presenter on various panels.
