| (January 29, 2009. Boston, MA.) - The law firm of Sheehan Phinney Bass + Green PA is pleased to announce that shareholder Maria E. Recalde has been appointed Chair of the firm's Corporate Department.
Recalde will seek to maintain and increase the high level of service clients have come to expect from the firm's Corporate Department. She will provide guidance and direction with regard to the Corporate Department's strategic planning and initiatives, working closely with the various Practice Groups comprising the firm's Corporate Department. As Corporate Chair, Recalde will also be a member of the firm's four-member Management Committee. Commenting on this appointment, Sheehan Phinney President and Managing Director, Joseph A. DiBrigida, stated "Maria has demonstrated great talent in managing strategic initiatives and we are very much looking forward to putting that talent to use on behalf of our Corporate Department and the Firm."
Recalde is located in the firm's Boston office. Her practice includes technology and intellectual property transactions and counseling, strategic counseling on legal and business issues facing emerging companies, including branding portfolio strategies, e-commerce business strategies, and litigation risk avoidance. Recalde regularly lectures and authors on intellectual property, Internet, e-commerce, data security, privacy, electronic communications and related topics.
Recalde's recent honors include being named in 2008 as one of the "20 on the Move, Hispanic Executives Making an Impact in Boston" by the Boston Business Journal and El Planeta. She has been selected as a Massachusetts and New England "Super Lawyer" in the field of intellectual property by Law and Politics in the last three years, 2006-2008. Recalde was also selected by Women's Business Boston as one of the "Top Ten Corporate Lawyers" in 2009 and as one of the "Top Ten Women Lawyers in Boston" in 2007. She received the 2007 "Diversity Heroes Award" from Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly and the Massachusetts Bar Association.
Recalde has played an active role in many community organizations, including a former Trustee of the Boston Bar Foundation, former chair of the Boston Bar Journal's Board of Editors and she also served on the council of the Boston Bar Association. She currently serves on the Wellesley Development and Outreach Council, an advisory council to the Board of Trustees, the President and the Office of Resources and Public Affairs of Wellesley College.
Recalde was born and raised in Managua, Nicaragua. She received her B.A. from Wellesley College and her J.D. from Boston College Law School. She is a resident of Hingham, Massachusetts.
