(October 3, 2005. Manchester, NH.) - Sheehan Phinney Bass + Green is proud to announce that attorney Peter Nieves has joined the firm, of counsel. Nieves is a patent attorney, whose practice focuses on many aspects of intellectual property, including domestic and foreign preparation and prosecution of patents, domestic and foreign preparation and prosecution of trademarks, licensing, and disputes concerning patents, trademarks, copyrights and domain names.
Prior to joining Sheehan Phinney, Nieves spent three years with Hayes Soloway in Manchester. He spent five years before that with the firm Thomas, Kayden, Horstemeyer & Risley, in Atlanta, Georgia. He is a graduate of New Hampshire's law school, Franklin Pierce Law Center, and he received his BS in Electrical Engineering from the State University of New York in Buffalo. He is also an adjunct professor at Franklin Pierce Law Center.

Nieves counsels clients and renders opinions concerning the infringement/non-infringement of patents, the validity/invalidity of patents, and the design of products and processes to avoid potential infringement assertions.
Nieves' prosecution experience encompasses a wide range of electrical and electromechanical technologies, including, for example: analog and digital electronics; analog and digital telecommunication systems and devices; application software; computer graphics and animation, computer processor and memory architectures; DSL technologies; InfiniBand architecture; integrated circuit design and fabrication; Internet technologies, including Web site interaction and use; multimedia transmission systems and methods, optical telecommunication systems and devices; power supplies; set-top servers and applications; signal processing; audio speaker technologies, and, wireless communication systems and devices. Nieves' prosecution experience also encompasses a wide range of mechanical technologies and business methods.
Nieves is a member of the Intellectual Property Law section of the American Bar Association, the American Intellectual Property Law Association, the Atlanta Bar Association, and the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers. He is licensed to practice in the state of Georgia and is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the state of Georgia, as well as the Court of Appeals of the State of Georgia. In addition, he is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
Nieves is a committee member of the MIT Enterprise ForumĀ®, and a Board Member of the Natural Entrepreneur of New Hampshire. In addition, Nieves commonly lectures on intellectual property topics.
