(April 10, 2008. Manchester, NH.) - Edward A. Haffer, shareholder at the law firm of Sheehan Phinney Bass + Green PA, successfully obtained a Consent Order for the New Hampshire Bureau of Securities Regulation in a dispute against Ameriprise Financial, Inc. and Ameriprise Financial Services, Inc. (Ameriprise).
The consent order states that Ameriprise failed to report the investigation of 96 instances of forgery by six of its Portsmouth, NH financial advisors, as they were required to do by a 2005 settlement agreement. Two of the Ameriprise advisors were terminated, three disciplined and the sixth resigned during the investigation. Ameriprise Group Vice President, Larry Post, was also disciplined for his "cavalier attitude about forgery." He is prohibited from engaging in securities activities in the state of New Hampshire for five years. Ameriprise was ordered to pay $3,250,000 in administrative fines and an additional $250,000 in costs.
Haffer has litigated extensively in intellectual property and patent areas as well as securities, fraud, shareholder disputes, contracts and environmental law in both Federal and State courts.
