(February 2, 2004. Randolph, MA.) - Owners of small- to mid-size companies are finding themselves dealing with increasingly complex marketplace issues. The impact of internet-based transactions, international trade, tax legislation and evolving employee relations issues make owning a business challenging to say the least. Members of the law firm of Sheehan Phinney Bass + Green and the accounting firm of Parent, McLaughlin & Nangle (PMN) have assembled a panel of experts from their organizations who will address these issues in a morning workshop entitled, "A Survival Guide For Small Business in the New Economy." The program is scheduled for March 18, 2004.
Attorney Maria Recalde with a present on Protecting Your Intellectual Property From the Start: a discussion of basic guidelines to help companies identify, protect and manage their intellectual property rights. Attorney Mark Ventola will then provide an Employment Law Update on the ever-changing rules that govern the employer/employee relationship.
Joseph Amaral, president of The Amaral Group, LLC, an affiliate of PMN, will provide an overview of best practices concerning IT Security and Disaster Recovery Planning to help attendees create secure, cost-effective infrastructures. David St. Yves, CPA, takes Amaral's discussion one step further offering insight on business policies and internal control matters related to controlling IT Security. Russell Coon, CPA, will draw the program to a close with Tuning the Tax Law to your Business' Life Cycle or How to Avoid Saying, "If Only I Had…", strategies for maximizing after-tax results.
